LASERPLAST

IPL TREATMENTS

True beauty lies in the beholder’s eyes

Intense pulsed light or IPL indicates a group of technologies which, unlike lasers, do not emit just one wavelength, but many wavelengths. By applying a filter to the light (called a cut-off), the operator can choose which wavelength can reach the skin. In this way it is possible to decide what depth to work at and which target to impact. The energy is then emitted in a series of impulses (the number and length of which can also be chosen by the operator), so that only targets in the dermis (melanin and blood vessels) are reached, and the epithelial surface is left undamaged. IPL can be used for treating facial capillaries, Acne Rosacea subtype I, sun spots and lentigo on the face and hands. The light emitted causes fragmentation of melanin and coagulation of blood vessels. However, part of the energy does spread into the tissue surrounding these targets and causes production of new collagen. This causes ‘photorejuvenation’ of the skin.
