ER: GLASS LASER TREATMENTS

We have two Er:Glass lasers: one of 1540 nm and one of 1565 nm wavelength. The laser emits energy in microbundles of 300 microns diameter (0.3 mm) (laser of 1540 nm), or 110 microns (0.11 mm) (laser of 1565 nm). These bundles cause a denaturation of the dermis without removing the epithelial surface. Each column of the denatured dermis will be substituted by new tissue. It is mainly used for the facial rejuvenation in patients who do not want to stay away from social life for more than a couple of days. It is also used in the treatment of acne scarring and scarring in general, and more recently, it has been used with a success in the stretch marks treatment.

SIDE-EFFECTS (ALSO TEMPORARY):

Redness (few hours/2 days), swelling near the eyelids (few days), some very fine scabs up to 10 days after treatment (when high energies are used)

PRECAUTIONS BEFORE TREATMENT

avoid sun exposure and UV lamp exposure for 30 days before treatment, not to take antibiotics or other photosensitizing medications, apply sun protection SPF 50+ for at least 15 days before the first treatment (if treated areas are exposed to light)

PRECAUTIONS AFTER TREATMENT

regularly apply moisturizing creams, avoid sun exposure of the treated areas and use sun protection SPF 50+
